Stuart calls Palm Springs, CA his home, but mostly works in LA and NY. He graduated from the Art Center College of Design, Pasadena, where he was later invited to teach. Stuart has been making pictures since he was 10 years old and living on a sailboat in Central and South America.
Stuart’s work ranges from architecture, automotive, and portraiture, to aspirational lifestyle. This year, Stuart created an image collection of Radiographs (X-Ray images). The NY-based client, a major pharmaceutical software company, is utilizing the images to communicate the concept of “transparency”. He has also created artwork for over 65 Album and CD covers including Prince's ‘Purple Rain’ and Madonna’s ‘Material Girl’. Stuart received gold records for John Fogerty's ‘Centerfield’ and ‘Eye of the Zombie’ albums as well as a Grammy nomination for Barbra Streisand ‘Just for the Record.’
His multi-decade career has been built upon being a “change agent” by breaking the mold of the mundane and expected. As a result, this has positively impacted marketing across multiple industries, increasing sales through greater brand awareness.
His awards include an AR100, a Communication Arts Design Award, and a Polaroid International Photography Award. Stuart’s unique concept execution and vision have contributed to the success of advertising campaigns for Apple Computer, Capital One, SC Johnson’s ‘Glade’ Fragrances, Brown Jordan Furniture, Walker-Zanger, Century Furniture, and OM Seating. When IKEA Furniture launched in the USA, Ad Agency Deutsch NY awarded the project to Stuart. They told him, “You were the only photographer who had flames rising from a table in your portfolio! We will NEVER have you do that for IKEA, but we were drawn to your boldness!”
Stuart remains passionate about the endless possibilities every project offers. That, and being my Son, Pip’s Dad- “Truly, the best job I ever had”.
